9gag:

Apple Restriction Zone

This is why I’m Apple-free and remain happily so.  I certainly don’t hold a grudge against anyone who, for whatever reason, chooses Apple and their products.  My bee eff eff is a multimedia grad and Apple is her raison-d’etre.  I just find it silly to pay so much for something I see as a totally proprietary and un-customizable brick.  I understand that Apple is the smart choice for some people who either enjoy the safety of point-and-click-and-that’s-it or want to run specific software.  As for me, though, I want ultimate control over my machine and since I know what I’m doing, it’s relatively safe.  How many engineers do you know that use Apple?  I don’t know any.  I think it has something to do with how we like to know how things work and how to fix ‘em when they don’t.  Apple computers don’t allow for this, Windows is better if you want to really muck around, but Linux is best for the resourceful DIY-er.  I’m certainly not trying to renounce the advancements that Apple/Steve Jobs has given the computing world (hey what’s up, 1983’s revolutionary “Lisa,” which Steve Jobs actually wasn’t involved with at all), just offering up my two cents.
