Cyndi Lauper Advocates Equality on ‘Celebrity Apprentice’
Iconic 80’s pop star Cyndi Lauper has taken her gay and lesbian advocacy to the hit show Celebrity Apprentice.
The Grammy-winning singer debuted on NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice Sunday night and is creating a buzz about her LGBT charity, The True Colors Fund.
One of the 56-year-old singer’s goals is to get the straight community involved in the support of LGBT equality. Over the past two years, True Colors has raised over $200,000 for organizations like HRC and PFLAG.

I honestly can’t wait for Cyndi Lauper and Sharon Osbourne to scrap on tv. Sharon Osbourne is one of the many banes of my existence, due to her Ozzfest assertion (among other things) that she is “the real Iron Maiden”. And really, I’m all for autonomy over one’s own body, but Sharon has regularly cited that the reason behind her ongoing plastic surgery is that she “wants to look nice for her husband.” Great message for young women, right? I would rather someone admit to plastic surgery than forever claim they’ve had nothing done, thereby inadvertently creating impossible standards by which women will compare themselves (AHEMNicoleKidmanCOUGH), but really? I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. I’m glad her daughter seems to have gotten things together for herself- I expect it would be hard when your mother is a wheezing bag of hate speech and blatant media whore. Fuck off, Sharon.
In my opinion, Cyndi’s already “won” this one, but I really want to watch Sharon get taken down a notch or two this season on Celebrity Apprentice.
